ABSEILING

sunday july 4th I did a 65ft abseil for click seargent childrens cancer charity. It was held in Manchesters Velodrome. Having completed a 200ft abseil several years ago I was semi confident for sunday. However, on arrival at the venue I walked in to find one single rope hanging from the highest point of the roof and a small platform suspended from the roof. The other abseil took place down the side of a building so this was a bit of a shock. I felt like i was auditioning for a new tarzan movie!crikey! so off i go to get the safety gear on and have a quick chat with the safety instructor, then I was ecorted to the roof, walking the plank is prob the most accurate description of this part, the spectators looked like jellybabies in the tiered seating. I was greeted at the top by a very nice guy who hooked me up to the safety lines and managed to smooth talk me into swinging my body out over the sheer drop of nothingness whilst holding on to a rope. This is the scariest thing ever, however once you get through this part it does actually feel really safe and Fun. After possing for a few pics at the top I began my descent and it was a real buzz of excitement adrenaline and fear!was well worth it though and it's good to be able to do my bit for the charity.
